Monthly MeetingMay 8, 2024. 7 PM
Ocotillo Room, Kino Center Gary Carroll Club Member Gary Carroll will give a presentation on phone photography. As we are all aware, our phone is often the only camera we have when a photo op presents itself. Gary will give us some pointers and much useful information. He has used various camera equipment for many years but he still considers himself an amateur photographer. He won the PCQC annual award a few years ago with his picture of "Standing on the Corner in Winslow, AZ" (and it was such a fine site to see!) Gary gets excited over low shadows on big boulders. He lived in Colorado for many years where he had opportunities to take lots of pictures of them. He's taken his share of FILM photos over the years and was lucky enough to travel the world and document his travels in pictures. He also has a few telescopes that he brings out once in a while. Gary's background is engineering so he tends to see everything from a technical view point. His latest interest is cell phone cameras. They are always with you and can take some excellent pictures. The new Q2 2024 Member's Challenge topic is Color. The subject of the photo should have a dominant color that immediately attracts the viewer’s eye Springtime is filled with things that have a dominant color, such as a bright flower. However, the key word to consider is composition. When you look at the photo - the viewer's eye should be immediately attracted to the main subject. Post processing might help, but setting up or finding the right composition for the subject will be key. Lighting will play a large and perhaps primary role. So start thinking, and start shooting. But most of all, have fun. Have a great day, Jim The photos need to be taken between April 1 and June 30, 2024 Send me (Jimmsp AT outlook.com) up to 3 photos taken during the quarter. Remember, any post processing is allowed. If you add elements from another photo (like sky replacement) those elements must have been photographed by you within the quarter. Topics for the next challenges are also listed here.
