December 2013 Contest Winners “Food” Why did Bill Martone take a picture of the lowly onion? The striking color of a red onion was his motivation. That resulted in Bill receiving first place in December’s PCQC contest theme, “Food”. The onions were shot against a light monotone background to enhance their rich color. Camera: Canon EOS 60D, EF-S 60mm focal length, (94.5 mm equivalent in a 35 mm camera).f/2.8 Macro lens, f/2.8, 1/80 sec, ISO 800. Bob Johnson had guests from California and took them to Stables Restaurant at the Tubac Country Club. Bob had a fantastic meal and when dessert arrived out cam his camera. The resentation was like a page out of a gourmet dining magazine. This was the first time Bob has taken a picture of food on a table. Bob received second place for his efforts using his trusty Sony single reflex camera. Camera: Sony Digital NEX-3 shot on a scene selection, macro, without flash or tripod, 42 mm focal length (63 mm equivalent), f/4.5, 1/80 sec, ISO 1000. Larry Phillips took his third place photo in New Zealand at Hobbiton of “Shire” for Hobbits as imagined in the movie, “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit’. The wheelbarrow and garden vegetables is part of an outdoor set used for scenes for those two movies. The picture evokes the feeling of a county farm home and harvest time.
